Ngage – Training Videos for social workers working with young people

A series of films devised by and for young people on issues of excessive alcohol and drug use in school-children. The local youth theatre worked with letters and information provided by young people who had been helped by counsellors on their drug and alcohol use. The young actors created characters based on the material and wrote diary entries and life timelines to prepare them for the filming. They were then filmed  in sessions with trained counsellors as these characters. Young people were also trained in video production during the filming of these extracts. The films were published as a DVD and booklet and used in Nottingham City Council for training counsellors on using a new tool in schools and youth centres in Nottingham. It was commissioned by the Children's Services of Nottingham City Council in 2008. The Ngage videos will be added to the site when approved by the commissioner.
